Responsible AI for car dealerships: how DriveGood AI behaves

An AI that writes to your buyers speaks in your dealership's name. These are the rules DriveGood AI follows in every conversation, and what always stays with your team.

When a buyer writes to your dealership at 11 p.m., the reply carries your name. If that reply invents a feature, quotes a different price or reveals a customer's phone number, your dealership answers for it.

DriveGood AI was built with that in mind. This page sets out, in plain terms, how it behaves with your buyers. Two rules come before everything else:

Two rules DriveGood AI never breaks

  1. 01

    It never negotiates a price.

Buyers get your advertised price. Any negotiation stays with your team.

  2. 02

    It never shares private information.

No personal addresses, private phone numbers or customer details. Ever.

How DriveGood AI behaves

It works only from your real vehicle details

Every reply and every description comes from the details of the vehicle in your DMS: year, make, model, trim, kilometres, price, features, condition and photos. DriveGood AI doesn't fill gaps with guesses, doesn't borrow specs from a similar model and doesn't add options a vehicle doesn't have.

When a buyer asks something your details don't cover, such as a service history you never entered, DriveGood AI doesn't improvise. The question goes to your team. A complete vehicle description is the best way to let it answer more on its own.

It never negotiates a price

The price a buyer hears from DriveGood AI is the price you advertised. When a buyer asks for a better deal, it doesn't haggle, hint at a lower price or make a counteroffer. Price talks belong to your sales team, which knows the vehicle, the margin and the customer.

Example. A buyer writes: "Would you take $2,000 less for the 2019 Ford F-150 XLT?" DriveGood AI answers that the advertised price is the one it can give, says a salesperson can talk with them about the deal, and offers to book a visit. The amount is an illustration.

DriveGood AI doesn't set prices either. When you change a price, it updates your listings; the decision is always yours.

It never shares private information

DriveGood AI doesn't give out personal addresses, private phone numbers or customer details. A buyer can't get information about another buyer, a previous owner or a member of your staff from it.

For the wider picture, read our guide to AI and privacy for car dealerships in Canada and Drive Good's privacy policy.

It doesn't promise financing approval

To qualify a buyer, DriveGood AI asks about trade-in, financing, budget and timing. That's where its role in financing ends. It doesn't run credit checks, doesn't approve credit and never tells a buyer they'll be approved. Financing decisions stay with your dealership and your lenders.

It hands serious buyers and hard questions to your team

DriveGood AI handles first replies and the repetitive work. Once a buyer is ready, it books a test drive or visit in your calendar and your team takes over. Anything it can't answer from your details goes to your team as well.

Some things it simply doesn't do. It doesn't make phone calls, sign contracts or set prices. Those stay with people.

Every conversation is saved where you can read it

Each conversation is saved with the lead in your DMS. A manager can open any lead and read exactly what DriveGood AI wrote and how the buyer responded. Nothing happens out of view, and you can check the tone and the facts whenever you want.

AI, a person or both: your choice

You decide who replies to your buyers: DriveGood AI, a person, or both. You might want a person on certain conversations and the AI on the rest. If you need more people on your leads, Drive Good's BDC service is available on request.

Calm, honest replies to reviews

DriveGood AI replies to your Google reviews in your dealership's voice and the reviewer's language, and negative reviews get a calm, professional answer. Drive Good requests a review from every buyer, without incentives or filtering, reports only reviews that break Google's rules, and never promises to get an honest review removed.

Why these rules are built in

A general AI assistant follows your dealership's rules only if you spell them out every time. DriveGood AI was built only for vehicle dealers, so these rules are part of how it works from the first message. See the comparison between DriveGood AI and general AI assistants for more.
